Hi. My name is Rob. I'm a big guy and I love to work on pinball machines. Thus, Big Rob's Pinball Repair was born. I specialize in electromechanical machines.
I specialize in the repair, maintenance, and/or restoration of electromechanical EM pinball machines. This covers many machines from the late 70's and earlier. While I don't normally work on solid state machines I still might be able to help or put you in touch with someone that can.
It's easy to tell if you have an electromechanical machine. Take a look at your score numbers. If they're physical numbers that move as you score points you have an electromechanical machine. If the numbers are lit up on a digital display you have a solid state machine.
I am located in Calhoun, Georgia. I can generally service anyone within 100 miles of my location but I am open to traveling further. Every situation is different and we can discuss options if you live farther away.
I charge $120 as an initial fee to come out to your location and assess the machine. This covers the first hour of work and my travel expenses. As mentioned above, if you live farther than 100 miles from my location this fee might increase. After the initial fee my rate is $60/hr.
After you contact me I will either come to your location or you can bring the machine to my location. Once on location I will assess the machine and determine if repairs can be made on-site. If the machine cannot be repaired on-site I will transport the machine to my shop. I will then provide you with an estimate for the needed repairs before beginning any work. Once we determine that you agree to the estimate amount I will begin work on your machine. When I am finished I will contact you to arrange a time for delivery. I will set up your machine and make sure everything is in working order.
That is always a difficult question to answer. Pinball repair is almost impossible to estimate until after I have had hands on time with the machine to assess what is needed. At minimum it will cost the initial $120 fee. After that it depends on the issues the machine has, parts that may have to be ordered, and how long it will take me to repair those issues. I can generally say that the average repair cost will be around $500 but can be up to $1000 or more depending on what you want done. Again, it's impossible to say until after I've looked at the machine.
I do occasionally buy machines and I have friends that buy pinball machines. If you have one you'd like to get rid of feel free to contact me. If I'm not interested I might know someone who is. As far as selling, I don't usually sell machines but you never know. If you're looking for a specific machine contact me and we can discuss.
